2007 Baja Baja SAE competitions involve the design and building of original vehicles, based on stock, 10 horsepower Briggs & Stratton engines. The vehicles must be capable of traversing off-road terrain and deep water and are judged on their design, cost, speed, traction, land maneuverability, water maneuverability, and endurance.

The 2007 Hopkins Baja SAE team took part in two competitions.  The first, held in early May at the University of Central Florida, was the Baja UCF competition. In this amphibious challenge Hopkins placed 22nd overall out of 75 teams. The next competition, the RIT World Challenge in Rochester, NY, was held in June. Out of 141 teams Hopkins placed 77th overall, with a top finish of 40th in the maneuverability competition.
